Southern California indie rock trio Rec Hall has just released their latest single, ‘Olive,’ a groovy yet melancholic track that explores the sting of unreciprocated love.

Out now via Arista Records, ‘Olive’ has quickly become a fan favorite after being performed during the band’s opening slot on Beach Weather’s Pineapple Sunrise tour. The song delves into the emotional complexities of chasing the “manic pixie dream girl” archetype, only to be met with unrequited affection. Frontman John Barry explained, “‘Olive’ is about unrequited love and how keeping low expectations is sometimes for the best. Falling in love with someone who isn’t in a position to love you back is a devastating yet powerful feeling.”

‘Olive’ is out now.
