Rapt confronts mortality in the lead single from his upcoming album
London-based artist Rapt (Jacob Ware) has shared ‘I Will Be My End,’ the haunting lead single from his upcoming album, Until the Light Takes Us, set for release on February 21, 2025, via START-TRACK.
Drawing comparisons to Nick Drake’s Pink Moon, ‘I Will Be My End’ delivers a stripped-down yet richly evocative sound, reminiscent of bardic traditions. A delicate fingerpicked guitar melody serves as the backdrop for Ware’s exploration of agency amid physical and emotional struggles. His opening line, “I’ve seen Medusa / I’ve seen storms,” alludes to his battles with rheumatoid arthritis and epilepsy—conditions that once prevented him from playing guitar for a year. The song embodies a bleak but determined optimism, contemplating the resilience required when confronted with life’s fragility.
‘I Will Be My End’ sets the tone for Until the Light Takes Us, a record that examines themes of mortality, dysfunction, and human connection with unflinching honesty.
