Seattle-based band Prim has announced their new album, Move Too Slow, set for release on September 6, 2024, via Sunday Drive Records. Alongside this announcement, Prim has shared two new singles, ‘Golden Tooth’ and ‘Don’t Count On Me.’

‘Golden Tooth’ addresses the stark contrast between wealth and poverty, with leader Kevin Flores reflecting on societal inequalities and environmental destruction. The track is a call to action, urging listeners to channel their anger into direct action rather than succumbing to hopelessness.

On ‘Don’t Count On Me,’ Flores conveys a sense of bitterness and exhaustion, critiquing empty promises from those in power. The song also touches on personal themes of past fallouts, allowing listeners to interpret it according to their own experiences.

Here’s what Prim leader, Kevin Flores, has to say about the tracks:

“A golden tooth can be a sign of wealth or poverty, depending on the context. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer but we’re all still stuck on the same dying planet that the rich are actively destroying and blaming the poor for so what will you do, fall into hopelessness or channel that anger into direct action?”

Here’s what Kevin says regarding ‘Don’t Count On Me’:

“I’m bitter, exhausted, and petty especially when it comes to all these promises we’re given for things to get better. It’s a farce and I’ll never act like it’s anything other than people in power playing a game. Or maybe it’s a song about all the falling outs I’ve had in my life, whichever suits your mood.”

‘Golden Tooth’ and ‘Don’t Count On Me’ are out now. Move Too Slow, drops on September 6, 2024, via Sunday Drive Records.
