Powfu unveils ‘the songbird & the bookworm,’ lead single from upcoming EP the life of a lofi boy
Canadian lo-fi hip-hop sensation Powfu returns with a heartfelt new single, ‘the songbird & the bookworm,’ the first track from his upcoming collaborative EP the life of a lofi boy, due out June 29, 2025, via Lofi Records.
‘The songbird & the bookworm’ blends Powfu’s introspective rap-sung style with the ambient charm and mellow textures that Lofi Girl has championed to an audience of over 15 million subscribers. The track is a poetic and emotionally tender meditation on moving past anger and embracing vulnerability, backed by subtle natural sounds like rainfall and birdsong that enhance its vivid imagery. This single sets the tone for a project that explores the different emotional stages of love, with soft, melancholic production that will resonate deeply with fans of both lo-fi and lyric-driven music.
Speaking on the upcoming release, Powfu says:
“The new album is very laidback, with a mix of sad and happy songs. I wanted to incorporate very visual lyrics so that the listener could feel a part of the world. I used a lot of natural sounds like birds chirping and rainfall to enhance the imagery. Almost every song has to do with all the different phases of love that people go through. I’ve been focused on storytelling around romantic relationships.”
The full the life of a lofi boy EP will be available on all streaming platforms June 29, with a special animated release on Lofi Girl’s YouTube channel set for June 30.
