Planet Opal shares double single release ‘Indigo Skies’ and ‘Montagne A Colori’

Following the surreal and attention-grabbing ‘I’ve Heard Brian Eno in the McDonald’s Fridge,’ experimental duo Planet Opal returns with a compelling new double release. The tracks ‘Indigo Skies’ and ‘Montagne A Colori’ arrive today via Dischi Sotterranei.
Comprised of producer Giorgio Assi and drummer Leonardo De Franceschi, Planet Opal continues to refine their dance-punk sound, blending the robotic precision of Soulwax with the eclectic dynamism of LCD Soundsystem. ‘Indigo Skies’ unfolds as a nearly five-minute ride of hypnotic synthesizer sequences, reflecting the duo’s stylistic trademarks. Lyrically, the track delves into the deeply personal theme of illness acceptance, rejecting the idea of disease as an “inner enemy” and instead embracing it as an intrinsic part of being. The song’s structure mirrors this internal battle—claustrophobic and conflicted verses give way to a liberating refrain, a defiant call against external judgment.
Meanwhile, ‘Montagne A Colori’ offers a psychedelic journey inspired by a trip to Brazil, blending krautrock rhythms with surreal and fragmented Italian lyrics. The song evokes a sense of suspended disorientation, where time and space dissolve like fogged images seen through an airplane window.
‘Indigo Skies’ and ‘Montagne A Colori’ are available now on your favorite DSP.
