French shoegaze band Opinion shares lush new single ‘Mains’

Bordeaux’s garage-shoegaze outfit Opinion, led by Hugo Carmouze, reveals their latest single, ‘Mains,’ an emotive track from their forthcoming album Troisième Opinion, due out December 6.
Released via Flippin’ Freaks Records, Howlin’ Banana Records, Les Disques du Paradis, and Nothing Is Mine, ‘Mains’ blends layered guitar and melancholic melody into a sound that embodies nostalgic romance. On it, Carmouze skillfully combines saturated, melodic mid-tempo guitars with influences from power pop, shoegaze, and dream pop. Written during a long-distance relationship, the song encapsulates the fleeting but vivid feeling of holding hands and cherishing shared moments across distances.
Carmouze explains:
“Musically, I wanted to create a song that gave that “butterflies in the stomach” feeling. So, I aimed to make something as “epic” as it is “nostalgic,” using a wall of shoegaze-inspired sound to evoke the warm, comforting feeling of love.”
With ‘Mains,’ Opinion offers listeners a rich, sentimental experience that perfectly embodies the emotional weight of love across miles, capturing the wistfulness of those rare moments spent together.
