No Joy, the long-running experimental shoegaze project led by Jasamine White-Gluz, has released ‘Bits,’ the second single from the upcoming LP Bugland, due August 8th via Hand Drawn Dracula and Sonic Cathedral.

Following the acclaimed title track ‘Bugland,’ ‘Bits’ continues to showcase White-Gluz’s boundary-pushing sonic vision. Produced in collaboration with Chicago experimental artist Fire-Toolz, the track leans into gritty guitar textures and immersive shoegaze layers. Built around a blown-out guitar distortion created using the Earthquaker Devices Bit Commander pedal, ‘Bits’ threads noise and nostalgia into a vivid soundscape.

At the song’s core is a personal moment from White-Gluz’s past:

“This song was inspired by excerpts from a letter I wrote to the music media as a child in 1994 defending Courtney Love, urging them to leave her alone, is the spoken word heard towards the end of the song. Thematically I wanted to capture the feeling of running through tall grass, playing hide and seek behind big trees.”

‘Bits’ arrives alongside the announcement of No Joy’s North American tour, which kicks off September 3 in Washington, DC, and includes her first New York City performance since 2020. The tour will also hit Canada, the UK, and Europe through the fall.

‘Bits’ is out now.
