Moontype shares ‘Starry Eyed,’ the final preview from their forthcoming sophomore album I Let The Wind Push Down On Me, out next Friday via Orindal Records.

The Chicago-based band returns with a track that’s both emotionally weighty and sonically light. ‘Starry Eyed’ finds lead singer and bassist Margaret McCarthy reflecting on emotional regulation and the coping mechanisms that can quietly take hold. Set against shoegaze-inflected guitars and a slow, floating pace, the track balances heaviness with clarity. Its lyrics, centered around cycles of forgetting and revisiting personal struggle, mirror the record’s themes of confronting darkness with honesty.

McCarthy says of the track:

“For that song, I took myself on a writing retreat, sat there, and wrote for a week, and that song actually came out of that.

“This song is about coming to terms with how much I relied on alcohol to regulate my emotions. Pick your poison, however you want to escape. It’s a habit that’s hard to break, a door that keeps opening.”

I Let The Wind Push Down On Me is available to preorder now. For full tour dates and album info, visit Moontype’s Bandcamp.
