Mirah returns with ‘The Ballad of the Bride of Frankenstein’
Mirah shares her new single ‘The Ballad of the Bride of Frankenstein,’ offering another preview of her forthcoming album Dedication, due out February 20 via Double Double Whammy and Mirah’s longtime imprint Absolute Magnitude. The release arrives alongside the announcement of a US tour in support of the album.
‘The Ballad of the Bride of Frankenstein’ unfolds as a slow-building, narrative-driven song that moves from hushed restraint to full emotional release. The track’s rolling, vaporous arrangement gradually expands, reflecting the passage of time and the emotional weight carried through long-term relationships. Musically, it aligns with Mirah’s folk-rooted songwriting while embracing dynamic shifts in volume and intensity, allowing the song’s themes of identity, creation, and relational influence to surface naturally over its progression.
Mirah says:
“This is a pretty true to form ballad. You know. ‘A narrative poem or song which tells a dramatic, often tragic or romantic story in short, rhythmic stanzas.’ In this ballad you can wonder, is the singer the bride of the Monster Frankenstein, or the bride of Doctor Frankenstein, the creator of the monster? These two characters are often interchanged with each other, both accidentally and on purpose- I’m playing with that. And I am inquiring, what parts of us are innate and what parts are created by circumstance and relationship? What are the places of convergence between these three characters and what sets them apart from each other? You can also wonder, is it all as in a dream, where all the characters are you, or all the characters are me.”
Mirah will tour the US beginning March 26 in Burlington, Vermont, with additional stops across the US and Canada through early May, including shows in Chicago, Nashville, Brooklyn, and Providence.
‘The Ballad of the Bride of Frankenstein’ is out now and available to stream on all platforms.
