Little Barrie & Malcolm Catto have unveiled ‘Zero Sun,’ the dynamic lead single from their upcoming album Electric War, set to release on April 18, 2025, via Easy Eye Sound.

‘Zero Sun’ is a masterclass in groove, blending elements of funk, jazz, and 21st-century rock into a sound that feels both fresh and timeless. Built around a hypnotic rhythm and textured, grainy production, the track radiates with vintage sophistication, complemented by a VHS-style video directed by Robert Schober. The band’s minimalist approach allows drummer Malcolm Catto to drive the energy, while Barrie Cadogan’s understated guitar work and vocals create an emotional depth.

Cadogan says of the song:

“I had the idea of doing something with this groove for years. I’m not sure if you count in 3 or 6, I just like it. We jammed around it for a good hour in the studio until we got the feel. Me and Lewis keeping it minimal so Malcolm can play around it. The song came later. It’s about a mixture of things, old con artists, bleak English skies, and waking up with the feeling you have a lot of obstacles to overcome, but then realizing how much you have already achieved and to keep going. Ultimately the glass isn’t half empty, it’s more than half full.”

‘Zero Sun’ is a bold introduction to Electric War, reaffirming Little Barrie & Malcolm Catto’s reputation as genre-defying innovators.
