Lip Filler shares anthemic new single ‘Laugh Track’
London-based indie-rockers Lip Filler have dropped their latest single, ‘Laugh Track,’ a raw and exhilarating cut ahead of their April headline tour. Known for their boundary-pushing sound and dynamic performances, the band continues to evolve, delivering a track that delves into deep emotional terrain.
Written in November 2024 and recorded to tape in January 2025 with longtime collaborator St Francis Hotel (Little Simz, Greentea Peng), ‘Laugh Track’ explores the distressing experience of watching someone self-destruct while feeling powerless to help. The song’s soaring guitars and anthemic vocals capture both the intensity of this struggle and the band’s growing maturity in their sonic approach. By recording straight to tape, Lip Filler embraced a raw, performance-driven energy that enhances the track’s emotional weight.
Speaking more on the song’s lyrical inspiration, vocalist George Tucker said:
“‘Laugh Track’ is about dealing with someone who is self-destructive, seeing how painful it is looking from the outside in and knowing that there is something that is troubling them but they’re struggling to get it under control. You realise that there is nothing you can do – you yourself feel powerless to help them – and in seeing this one individual case of someone in dire need of love and care, you realise how many instances there must be of the same thing all over the world. The song is about the internal battle we all face every day, and how our individual behaviour in trying to deal with it shapes the world we live in, for better or for worse. And this was all inspired by a date I went on with a girl I met on Hinge. Never a dull moment on that app.”
