Manchester’s rising indie-R&B artist Lei Hope has returned with ‘Cranium,’ a track that navigates the themes of ambition and intimacy with poetic nuance.

Released today via Heist or Hit, ‘Cranium’ follows a year of growth for Hope, whose recent tours with Nature TV and Zach Templar, as well as his work as Hana Vu’s touring guitarist, have helped shape this latest effort.

The track uses space-inspired imagery to explore the balance between lasting success in both music and love. Driven by Hope’s intricate guitar riffs and rhythmic drum loops, the song strikes a compelling blend between indie and R&B, drawing comparisons to artists like Blood Orange and Tyler, The Creator.

Reflecting on the track, Hope shared:

“My past music inspired Cranium’s lyrical theme. I feel like I’ve kept my past lyrical content quite PG so it was fun to subvert that and step outside expectations by being a bit explicit. The song is about romanticising longevity, both in my music career and also in intimacy.”

With ‘Cranium,’ Lei Hope continues establishing himself as a unique and authentic voice in the Manchester music scene, promising even more depth and versatility with each release.
