Jacksonville-based shoegaze band Leaving Time has released their latest single, ‘Arm’s Length,’ a track that sets the stage for their debut album Angel In The Sand, arriving on November 1, 2024, via Sunday Drive Records.

‘Arm’s Length’ is a thoughtful and powerful exploration of humanity’s violent tendencies and the weaponization of progress. Reed Cothren, the band’s vocalist, reflects on the cycle of violence in the song, expressing frustration with mankind’s inability to evolve past the destructive patterns of war and profit-driven motives. The track’s heavy guitars, crashing cymbals, and melodic leads create an emotional backdrop for Cothren’s poignant lyrics.

Cothren elaborates on the track’s theme, stating:

“It’s about accepting that there will always be violence. Seemingly most of man’s “advancement” is weaponized and used for war and death; most often for profit. It’s always been and will always be this way.”

‘Arm’s Length’ is out now. Angel In The Sand, arrives November 1, 2024, via Sunday Drive Records.
