Out July 12, 2024, via Saddle Creek/One Little Independent, the reissue is an expanded, remastered two-disc collector’s edition of their beloved debut EP.

Land of Talk, the influential Montreal-based outfit led by Lizzie Powell, is excited to announce the release of Applause Cheer Boo Hiss: The Definitive Edition. This expanded and remastered first vinyl reissue of the band’s beloved debut EP will be available on July 12, 2024.

Alongside the announcement, Land of Talk has unveiled the urgent lead single ‘Speak to Me Bones,’ accompanied by a stripped-back acoustic version mixed and engineered by Justin Vernon. Both versions are available now.

Powell explains:

“[Fugazi’s] ‘Smallpox Champion’ is a song that definitely inspired the outro to ‘Speak to Me Bones,’ which is a song that I would love to play live again, especially because I wrote it long before MeToo, and since the MeToo movement a lot of people have been naming their abusers and the abuse of powers in the music industry.”

The acoustic version of ‘Speak to Me Bones,’ one of five tracks from L’Aventure Acoustique mixed and engineered by Justin Vernon, offers a contrasting, intimate take on the powerful original. Vernon, who later produced and played guitar on Land of Talk’s debut full-length album Some Are Lakes, brings a unique touch to this stripped-back rendition.

‘Speak to Me Bones’ is out now. Applause Cheer Boo Hiss: The Definitive Edition is scheduled for release July 12, 2024, via Saddle Creek/One Little Independent.
