Just Penelope presents ‘Feel So’ as a country-tinged alt-rock statement
Just Penelope releases their new single and video ‘Feel So’ via Angel Tapes, the emerging artists imprint of Fire Talk Records. The Bloomington, Indiana-based trio shares the track as the final entry in their first batch of recordings following a run of singles throughout 2025.
‘Feel So’ distills the band’s country-tinged alt-rock into a focused and cathartic release. Built around intertwined vocals and textured instrumentation, the track pairs Ethan Cantrell’s delicate delivery with Ella Curiel’s lush alto. Lyrically, the song centers on vulnerability and internal conflict, capturing the tension between longing and self-preservation in lines such as “What could I do?,” and “I tried, I lied // But I want you, want you to know.” The arrangement reflects the trio’s blend of indie, alternative country, and melodic shoegaze, a sound shaped in the Midwest scene after first connecting at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
Of the track, Just Penelope adds:
“‘Feel So’ was our first step as Just Penelope — before basement rehearsals, bar shows — before there was a band. The song recognizes the pitfalls of choosing pain over being alone. We didn’t expect much out of it; this was the product of wanting to make music with people we love.”
‘Feel So’ is out now and available to stream on all major platforms.
