John-Robert confronts mental health and boundaries on new single ‘Get Help’

Virginia-born singer-songwriter John-Robert has released his new single ‘Get Help’ today (October 17, 2025), the latest preview from his forthcoming EP Cross Stitch, due November 14 and his first project as an independent artist.
Rooted in Appalachian folk traditions and shaped by deeply personal experiences, ‘Get Help’ explores themes of mental health, boundaries, and self-preservation. The track’s release is accompanied by a new music video filmed in John-Robert’s hometown of Edinburg, Virginia, following him through local landmarks including the zoo and a nearby music venue.
John-Robert shared:
“I was in a relationship that involved drug abuse, addiction, and mental health scares. I think it’d be classless to discuss these sensitive subjects in terms of specifics. Generally, the ‘Get Help’ line is directed towards myself and the person I was dating. I wanted us to be partners, not each other’s keeper. I learned I couldn’t want more for someone, than they wanted for themselves. It’s a song about setting boundaries. Self-harm is never acceptable as leverage to keep one in a relationship. The chorus is pleading.”
‘Get Help’ is available now on all streaming platforms. Cross Stitch arrives November 14.
