Illiterate Light ignites with blistering new single ‘Payphone’
Virginia duo Illiterate Light has dropped the fiery opening track ‘Payphone’ from their forthcoming album Arches, due November 1, 2024, via Thirty Tigers.
‘Payphone’ sets the tone for the album with its explosive energy, blending jangly guitars and sweeping synths that encapsulate the band’s reinvigorated creative spirit. The song’s lyrics tell the story of a desperate phone call between a man facing self-doubt and his guiding light, Big Red, providing comfort and encouragement.
Frontman Jeff Gorman explains:
“The song is a desperate phone call between Big Red and her man. He’s facing crippling self-doubt. She comforts him. Despite her seeming lack of depth, she is his guiding light as he’s hit rock bottom.”
With Arches set to drop soon, ‘Payphone’ promises a bold and powerful album from Illiterate Light.
