Illiterate Light announces forthcoming album Arches with lead single ‘Norfolk Southern’
Coming in hot after their fourth year at Newport Folk Festival, Illiterate Light has announced their upcoming third LP, Arches.
‘Norfolk Southern’ stands as a poignant and intense opener for Arches. The track is a heart-wrenching tribute to the victims of last year’s disastrous train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. The song captures the chaotic energy of the event with a fast and aggressive approach, reflecting the band’s deep emotional connection to the incident.
In the words of the band:
“A train derailed in East Palestine Ohio last year, releasing 10,000 gallons of hazardous materials into the atmosphere. The song is heavy, fast, and aggressive. Some days I am waving the flag against unhinged industry, and other days I feel just like that Norfolk Southern, barreling out of control at warp speed. For the most part, I just wanted to shine a light on the explosion and the community it impacted. It was a big deal.”
‘Norfolk Southern’ is available starting today. Their upcoming album, Arches, is set for release on November 1, 2024, via Thirty Tigers.
