Hammock release ‘Chemicals Make You Small’ featuring Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd, and ‘The Unsetting Sun,’ ahead of their upcoming album The Second Coming Was A Moonrise, out May 22.

The Nashville duo continues their exploration of ambient, post-rock, and cinematic composition across both tracks, each offering a distinct entry point into the record’s sound. ‘Chemicals Make You Small’ stands as one of the album’s rare vocal-led moments, pairing layered guitars and atmospheric textures with Coyne’s unmistakable voice. The track leans into themes of dislocation and emotional overwhelm, with Drozd’s keys adding depth to its immersive, spectral tone. In contrast, ‘The Unsetting Sun’ unfolds as a slow-building instrumental piece, emphasizing Hammock’s meditative side through gradual progression, drifting tones, and a sense of quiet expansion.

Byrd notes:

“Beatless ambient, post-rock, shoegaze, neoclassical. Or as some of our listeners call it, loud Hammock or quiet Hammock. What all our work has in common is a distinctive sonic blueprint.”

‘Chemicals Make You Small’ and ‘The Unsetting Sun’ are available now to stream, with The Second Coming Was A Moonrise arriving May 22.
