Glixen drift into tension and release on new single ‘Unwind’

Glixen return with their new single ‘Unwind,’ produced by Sonny Diperri. The Phoenix shoegaze four-piece kick off a major 2026 with the standalone release ahead of headline dates in Japan and a co-headlining North American tour this spring.
‘Unwind’ floats in with reverb-soaked guitars and soft distortion, unfolding at a slow, deliberate pace. Layers of riffs bloom and dissolve with a weightless sense of motion, while subtle dynamic shifts and swelling textures replace traditional hooks. A quiet tension moves beneath the surface, drifting just out of reach as the band leans further into atmosphere and restraint. The production by Sonny Diperri, known for work with My Bloody Valentine and DIIV, frames the track’s immersive quality and highlights Glixen’s evolving sonic direction.
Bandleader Aislinn Ritchie explains:
“‘Unwind’ is about that feeling of relief when someone comes back to you after they’ve left. It’s human nature to crave that push and pull—a drug weaned off. Blindingly hard to say no, we succumb to willful ignorance. We recorded this song in Los Angeles with Sonny Diperri producing, and it’s the first song we incorporated different instrumental elements, and it’s a glimpse into our evolution.”
‘Unwind’ is out now and available to stream on all platforms.
We’ve covered Glixen previously: ‘Quiet Pleasures,’ ‘All Tied Up,’ ‘Lick The Star,’ and ‘Sick Silent.’
