‘Slightly Below The Middle’ previews Georgia Maq’s upcoming EP God’s Favourite

Georgia Maq continues her solo evolution with the release of ‘Slightly Below The Middle,’ the second single from her upcoming EP God’s Favourite, out September 4 via 1000 Rats.
Formerly the fierce voice of Camp Cope, Maq now leans into lyrical introspection and layered storytelling in this haunting new track. Co-produced by Maq and Daniel Fox (Ryan Beatty, Ian Sweet), the song blends the surreal with the spiritual, as Maq imagines a conversation with the boss of both the Devil and God. Over a bed of smoky acoustic strumming and ghostly atmosphere, she blurs lines between morality, myth, and memory.
‘Slightly Below The Middle’ was inspired in part by ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia,’ a song her father played on fiddle when she was young.
She recalls:
“I grew up listening to my dad play the fiddle part of ‘The Devil Went Down To Georgia’ and I always loved it because it says my name and I love hearing my name in a song.”
‘Slightly Below The Middle’ is available now on your favorite DSP.God’s Favourite is out September 4.
