Fredrik Svabø unveils heartfelt new single ‘Sophie’

Norwegian musician and composer Fredrik Svabø, known for his work with AURORA and other notable artists, shares ‘Sophie,’ the second single from his upcoming debut album, Kingo’s Treat, set for release on March 14.
‘Sophie’ tells the story of a woman navigating grief with the support of her community. Featuring lead vocals from Thea Wang, the track captures the emotional weight of loss and the struggle to move forward. Wang’s evocative delivery mirrors the protagonist’s need to escape the overwhelming attention: “Every day she’s on the run. Day by day she runs faster.”
The song’s lush instrumentation is equally compelling, combining chiming guitars, mournful trumpet lines, and gently flowing drums. Drawing on his jazz influences, Svabø introduces pedal steel guitar—a skill he was inspired to learn after listening to Greg Leisz on Susanne Sundfør’s Music for People in Trouble. This choice adds a tender, immersive quality to the track.
Reflecting on the lyrical inspiration, Svabø explains:
“It’s a reflection on the emptiness that lingers after loss and how it can transform you. Meeting a world that keeps moving around you while you just try to keep up and get through the day. It tells a story about a person who has all these unspoken struggles, trapped in a cycle trying to outrun her pain.”
With ‘Sophie,’ Svabø offers a glimpse into the deeply personal and musically rich world of Kingo’s Treat.
