Field Medic confronts emotional duality on ‘MELANCHOLY’

Field Medic has returned with a new single, ‘MELANCHOLY,’ a reflective and emotionally disarming track that marks the beginning of a new chapter for LA-based singer/songwriter Kevin Patrick Sullivan.
‘MELANCHOLY’ is the first offering from Sullivan’s upcoming self-released album surrender instead, due out August 8th, 2025. The song floats candid lyricism over a nostalgic doo-wop melody, juxtaposing upbeat musicality and internal emotional weight. The track arrives with a self-directed music video and is a striking introduction to an album that explores personal rebirth, mental health, and creative transformation.
Sullivan explains:
“After getting sober, years in therapy, and for the first time taking an antidepressant, I would still sometimes suffer from days or weeks of stifling depression. Experiencing that unique and dreadful feeling comes as quite a shock when you’ve been ‘doing the work’ and ‘healing’ in the ways that I had been, and still am.”
With ‘MELANCHOLY,’ Field Medic delivers a heartfelt and sonically inventive entry point into surrender instead—an album that promises to be his most grounded, honest, and resonant work yet.
