Dreamwave unleashes psych-blues fury with new single ‘Polystyrene Irene’
Bristol psych-rock quartet Dreamwave returns with their electrifying new single ‘Polystyrene Irene,’ a two-and-a-half-minute blast of bluesy fuzz-rock, out today via Velvet Echoes.
Packed with snarling vocals and crunching guitar riffs, ‘Polystyrene Irene’ captures Dreamwave’s raw energy, evoking the sound of bands like The Black Angels and Ty Segall. The track blends psych-punk intensity with the band’s signature neo-psychedelia delivering a fast-paced, fuzz-heavy experience that reinforces their reputation as an ever-evolving force in the UK’s psych scene.
Discussing the inspiration behind the track, guitarist and vocalist Ben Symonds explains:
“I was just feeling creative and had recently listened to Polythene Pam by the Beatles. My nan is called Irene and she’s a big character, loves smoking ciggies – a real force of nature. I changed the title to polystyrene to rhyme with her name.”
‘Polystyrene Irene’ is out now.
