Dean Johnson shares new single ‘Blue Moon’ via Saddle Creek
Seattle-based songwriter Dean Johnson has released ‘Blue Moon,’ the A-side of his upcoming Blue Moon b/w Lake Charles 7″, set for release on April 11, 2025, via Saddle Creek as part of its Document series. The single follows Johnson’s 2023 debut album, Nothing For Me, Please, which helped him transition from a local favorite to a nationally recognized Americana artist.
Blue Moon carries a timeless quality, blending Johnson’s warm, expressive tenor with a lush arrangement of pedal steel, upright bass, and electric piano. The song exudes both lonesomeness and comfort, capturing the quiet intimacy that defines much of Johnson’s songwriting.
On the track, Johnson reflects:
“Did you ever lie in bed listening for a sound down the street? A whistle, a coo, the approach of someone’s feet? This song is ultimately an ode to bedroom windows; to climbing out of them late at night.”
Alongside the release of ‘Blue Moon,’ Johnson has announced an extensive tour in 2025, with dates spanning Europe, the UK, and North America. Having recently performed at major festivals like Roskilde, Bonnaroo, and AmericanaFest, as well as sharing stages with Jenny Lewis, The Cactus Blossoms, and Blind Pilot, Johnson continues to expand his growing audience.
