Australian trio daste. continues their stellar run in 2024 with ‘Starwriter,’ a dreamy single that’s as introspective as it is expansive.

‘Starwriter’ was crafted on a writing trip to the coastal town of Wooli in Northern New South Wales. As they worked, daste. drew on the image of “writing a name in the stars like calligraphy,” building the song around the theme of legacy and a sense of cosmic destiny.

Braxton Tahi of daste. describes it as a song that needed little refinement after initial sessions, noting:

“We wrote a lot of the lyrics as if we were singing about daste. We had a lot of late nights working on our songs, live sets, promo pics and merch, etc. Putting time into daste knowing it would pay off someday, was honestly more rewarding and valuable than finishing the project. The self-gratification of making the songs we make is a feeling only we can understand but fortunately, it’s a feeling we’re able to express through.”

‘Starwriter’ is out now. Their upcoming sophomore album is set to be released in February of 2025.
