Liverpool indie rockers Circa Waves have released their latest single, ‘Old Balloons,’ an homage to touring and the lingering ache of life left behind at home. The track arrives as part of Death & Love Pt.2, the second chapter of their new album, due October 24, 2025, via Lower Third/[PIAS]. Together, both parts will form an 18-track collection, available on CD and double-gatefold vinyl.

‘Old Balloons’ follows earlier single ‘Cherry Bomb,’ and continues the band’s run of deeply personal yet instantly relatable songwriting. Written and produced by frontman Kieran Shudall, the new material stems from a surge of creativity after his life-changing heart surgery in 2023. While Death & Love Pt.1 explored themes of mortality and starting over, its companion piece takes on a more optimistic tone, focusing on love, survival, and euphoria. Recorded at both a friend’s studio in Finsbury Park and the legendary RAK Studios in London, the sessions capture a renewed spirit and sonic vibrancy.

As frontman Kieran Shudall describes:

“‘Old Balloons’ is about being homesick on our first US tours. It’s the strange feeling of leaving home with the hope of “making it in America’, but knowing that if you do you will be home even less.”

Circa Waves will celebrate the release with a special headline show at Assembly Hall in Worthing on October 24, with proceeds going to support crucial NHS services. With ‘Old Balloons,’ the band continues to channel their mix of honesty, energy, and optimism, reminding fans why they remain one of the U.K.’s most beloved indie acts.
