Ciao Malz confronts vulnerability with latest single ‘Two Feet Tall’

Brooklyn-based Filipino-American artist Ciao Malz (Malia DelaCruz) offers a deeply introspective look at stagnation and vulnerability in her new single, ‘Two Feet Tall.’
‘Two Feet Tall,’ a prelude to her upcoming EP Safe Then Sorry, reflects DelaCruz’s signature blend of indie-rock, dream-pop, and alt-country influences. The track draws from her own experiences, incorporating lyrics with a layered, melancholic energy. With steady, persistent drums and a quivering lead, Ciao Malz creates a sonic landscape that captures the feeling of being stuck in place while the world moves on.
Reflecting on the meaning behind the song, DelaCruz says:
“‘Two Feet Tall’ is about the feeling of losing an inch every day you put off making that call you really need to make. It’s the pile of clothes growing bigger and feeling yourself getting smaller. Regardless of the overcompensation, the mountains to hide behind — that unsettling feeling persists. I wanted to evoke the feeling of stagnation while everything else is in motion, so the lead on this track quivers in front of the persistent drums that push the scene along.”
With her debut EP just around the corner, Ciao Malz proves that her contemplative and dynamic sound is here to stay, offering listeners a raw and relatable exploration of inner conflict and growth.
