Teesside’s Benefits return with their searing new single, “Divide,” ahead of their highly anticipated second album, Constant Noise, out March 21 via Invada Records. Featuring guest vocals from Middlesbrough rapper Shakk, the track showcases the band’s relentless energy and their ability to fuse punk protest with blistering electronica.

Premiered by Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 6 Music, ‘Divide’ finds Benefits striking a balance between their early, heavier punk influences and their more recent electronic experimentation. The track pulses with hyperactive club rhythms and industrial-strength basslines, creating a chaotic yet danceable foundation. Shakk’s sharp lyricism weaves seamlessly with Kingsley Hall’s signature firebrand delivery, tackling themes of division, war, and societal decay.

Speaking about the track vocalist Kingsley explains:

“‘Divide’ is a punk song about society at war with itself over every conceivable issue. It’s angry about everything from war, inequality, misplaced patriotism, and poverty; to greed and the industrialisation and monetisation of hate.

“It’s an attempt to bring together everything that Benefits in 2025 represents, both sonically and lyrically. We wanted to merge heavy electronica, traditional punk, and protest, to create an assault on the senses in the best possible way. Along with producer James Adrian Brown, we threw beat after beat at it and brought in our friend Shakk to add pure fire and heart. It’s a piece about division but done in the spirit of unity.”

Accompanied by a candid new video featuring Shakk, ‘Divide’ delivers both sonic and visual intensity, offering a glimpse into Benefits’ dynamic and unfiltered approach.
