Bagdad’s haunting debut single, ‘Valley of Dry Bones,’ sets the tone for upcoming EP

Wrocław-based slowcore trio Bagdad have introduced themselves with their atmospheric and brooding debut single, ‘Valley of Dry Bones,’ released via Rite Field Records. The track serves as the first glimpse of their forthcoming EP, They Don’t Know, arriving on March 27, 2025.
‘Valley of Dry Bones’ melds the raw energy of 90s grunge with the introspective depth of slowcore, delivering a hypnotic listening experience. Built around a gritty main riff, the song creates a dense emotional atmosphere that draws listeners into its melancholic soundscape. Bagdad—comprised of guitarist and vocalist Franciszek Drobiński, bassist Wojciech Stach, and drummer Jakub Gadamski—channel their Eastern European sensibilities to craft a distinct style that balances explosive instrumentation with subtle, introspective moments.
Reflecting on the track, Drobiński shares:
“I wrote this song in 2021, I was just sitting at home playing guitar and this theme popped into my head, which later became the main riff. Later, when I was writing the lyrics to it, a picture I saw once in some book as a child came to mind. It was a scene from the Bible, depicting Ezekiel’s vision of The Valley of Dry Bones. The song was a bit about something else, but the image stuck in my mind so much that it became the title.”
With ‘Valley of Dry Bones,’ Bagdad offers a compelling introduction to their sound, setting high expectations for They Don’t Know.
