Today, the Chicago-based project Babe Report unveiled their third and final single, ‘Allergy 2000,’ from their upcoming debut album Did You Get Better, set to release on May 31 through Exploding In Sound.

Out today, ‘Allergy 2000’ stands out as the album’s weighty centerpiece, characterized by its soaring guitar lead and murky vocals. The track, which initially began as an experiment in crafting a Yo La Tengo-esque sound, evolves into a unique piece defined by a frenetic tempo shift. This change mirrors the fervent nature of the album, ensuring listeners remain engaged and intrigued.

On the song, band member Ben Grigg explains:

“There’s no grand theme behind the words here, they just always felt right. Like, these were the right sounds to make. The song to me is a vehicle for that soaring guitar lead line, which gets reprised after the tempo change.”

Accompanying the single is a music video directed by the band, adding a visual layer to the already dynamic track. ‘Allergy 2000’ follows the previously released singles ‘Turtle of Reaper’ and ‘Universal.’

Recorded over a single weekend in November 2023 at Radon Ranch, the album’s tracks promise to be both immediate and intoxicating.
