Autoheart returns with stirring new single ‘Sad Divide’

UK indie-pop trio Autoheart make their highly anticipated return with ‘Sad Divide,’ the first single from their forthcoming fourth album, Heartlands.
‘Sad Divide’ delves into the emotional complexities of connection and distance, encapsulating the struggle of bridging gaps that seem insurmountable. The track draws inspiration from a diverse sonic palette—channeling the cinematic grandeur of Ennio Morricone, the haunting harmonies of Fleetwood Mac, and the synth-driven emotional weight of Marianne Faithfull. The result is a song that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant, a signature strength of Autoheart’s songwriting.
Produced by the band and mixed by longtime collaborator Danton Supple (Coldplay, Alabama 3), ‘Sad Divide’ builds a sweeping, Americana-tinged atmosphere while maintaining the intimate vulnerability of 90s alt-pop. Its accompanying music video, created in collaboration with animator Alex Benson of the viral Dang project, adds a striking visual layer to the song’s themes.
Lead vocalist Jody Gadsden says of the track:
“We wanted to capture that feeling of trying to bridge a gap that feels impossible to cross.”
‘Sad Divide’ is out now.
