British indie trio Autoheart continues its dive into emotional pop with the release of ‘Baby Bird,’ the second single from their upcoming fourth studio album Heartlands, out August 15 via O/R Records through AWAL.

Built on driving piano, chiming guitars, and a soaring melodic line, ‘Baby Bird’ balances nostalgic vulnerability with spirited defiance. The track captures a moment of emotional suspension—somewhere between falling and flight—delivering a bright yet poignant sound that offers a vivid window into the landscape of Heartlands. Following the band’s sold-out 2024 U.S. tour, the single reflects on the personal reckonings that shaped the album’s creation and tone.

Speaking about the single, the band explains:

“‘Baby Bird’ is about surviving yourself. It’s about learning not to fear the fall – or even if you do, doing it anyway – and trusting that even if you f*** it up, given time, you’ll find your way again.”

Produced by Autoheart and mixed by Danton Supple (Coldplay, U2, Pet Shop Boys), Heartlands is described as “pop for overthinkers”—bold, emotional, and a little bit camp. The album is a tribute to the fans who supported the band through its rise, especially the devoted “Heartheads,” and takes inspiration from their experiences on the road across America.

Autoheart will support the album with a 36-date North American headline tour, The Heartlands Tour, kicking off September 5 in Tampa, FL, and featuring stops in Brooklyn (Sept. 13), Oakland (Nov. 17), and a pair of UK shows in Manchester (Oct. 10) and London (Oct. 11). Tickets are on sale now.
