Allie celebrates newfound queer love in upbeat track ‘Tiny Colored Pills’
New York City-based indie pop/rock artist Allie has released ‘Tiny Colored Pills,’ an energetic and reflective track exploring the highs and uncertainties of queer love.
‘Tiny Colored Pills’ began as a slow ballad before transforming into a vibrant, upbeat track that delves into heavy emotions with optimism. With a sound drawing inspiration from The National’s ‘Apartment Story’ and surf-rock elements, the song pairs buoyant drums with gritty guitar riffs, creating a dynamic balance between light and weighty feelings.
Discussing the evolution of the track, Allie explains:
“(The track) seethes and simmers with a brighter, more propulsive energy that has finally surfaced and made itself known to us, emphasizing the urgency of its lyrics that deal with romantic idealization, suicidal thoughts, and recalling teenage years with a propensity for self-abandonment, drenched in a yearning to belong.”
The result is a compelling and personal reflection on love and self-discovery, perfectly setting the tone for Allie’s forthcoming sophomore album, Every Dog, set to release on September 27 via Snack Shack Tracks and Anxiety Blanket Records.
