Alexei Shishkin returns with a fuzzy, game-inspired single titled ‘Disco Elysium,’ marking the first taste of his upcoming album Good Times, due out September 5th via Rue Defense.

Known for his prolific output and “restless lo-fi chameleon” approach, Shishkin has already released four records in 2024, and ‘Disco Elysium’ adds another vibrant layer to his ever-evolving sonic collage. The track, clocking in under two minutes, is a concise yet immersive burst of indie rock fuzz—somewhere between slacker charm and deliberate homage. Drawing influence from the video game of the same name, the single blends quirky sonic elements with a literary depth, invoking the surreal narrative style Shishkin has become known for. In a nod to the game’s internal mechanics, the track even opens with samples representing the four core personality aspects featured in the game—Intellect, Psyche, Physique, and Motor Skills.

Shishkin shares:

“This song was inspired by the game Disco Elysium, which is maybe the greatest video game ever made. You’re a degenerate, amnesiac detective coming off a crazy bender, and you’re trying to solve a murder that happened in a small post-revolution town… I play through it every two or three years, and I just so happened to be playing it when we recorded this song, so I wrote about it.”

‘Disco Elysium’ is a brief but vivid introduction to Good Times, hinting at an album full of imagination, spontaneity, and emotional complexity.
