North Carolina folk-Americana duo Beta Radio has released their highly anticipated new album, Waiting for the End to Come. With a decade-long career spanning four albums and hundreds of millions of streams, Ben Mabry and Brent Holloman have embarked on a fresh creative journey as they have collaborated with other songwriters for the first time. This spiritual experience during a weeklong retreat in Nashville led to a profound and magical musical evolution. Waiting for the End to Come not only follows the introspective search of their 2021 release, Year of Love, but also captures the fulfillment of that quest. Featuring their signature harmonies and a lush blend of acoustic guitars and strings, each track on the new album promises to elevate their sound to new emotional and mystical heights.

Follow along as Beta Radio tells us about each track from Waiting for the End to Come.

1. ‘The Grief Of’

This song is about the grief of something that you lost, lifting up a mirror to you.

2. ‘Floating Through’

This song is about how old thoughts can come back to you like ghosts in the graveyard, but how they can’t really hurt you.

3. ‘This One’s Going to Hurt’

This song is about the saying yes to pain and walking through suffering because you know it’s there to serve you.

4. ‘Imitate a Feast’

This song is about pretending that you’re at a feast and they’re not being anything there to eat.

5. ‘Halfway In a Dream’

This song is about living life halfway asleep, and then realizing that you’re doing that, and then starting to wake up.

6. ‘When You Got Your Hook in Me’

This song is about realizing that something has got its hooking you, so to speak, which can normally be interpreted as a negative thing, but instead choosing to interpret it as a positive thing.

7. ‘Rolling Away’

This song is about realizing that everything is holy.

8. ‘Find Someone’

This song is about the tension created whenever somebody thinks that a person is going to solve all their problems, but realizing that’s not what’s going to happen.

9. ‘Wheel of Wonder’

This song is about how everything ends and begins in the same place and how it’s just a wonderful ride in between.

10. ‘Waiting for The End to Come’

This song is about knowing that everything ends, but also that every end is just the beginning of something else. Sort of like that thing Seneca said or what the song “closing time” sings about.
