The Academy Is… ride the memory of Chicago nights on ‘L Train’
The Academy Is… release the new single ‘L Train,’ the final preview of their upcoming album Almost There, arriving March 27, 2026 via I Surrender Records.
Driven by rhythmic momentum and shimmering textures, ‘L Train’ moves with the pulse of a night out in Chicago. Airy guitar riffs weave through William Beckett’s vocals while bright synth accents push the song forward, creating a mix of nostalgic warmth and emotional tension. The track builds on the band’s signature blend of alt-rock and pop-punk energy, pairing reflective lyrics with dynamic instrumentation from guitarist Mike Carden, bassist Adam Siska, and drummer Andy Mrotek.
The band explains:
“‘L Train’ is a song about those nights where you’re stuck in your own head; alone in a crowded room, surrounded by social ghosts. The song is dreamy, but there’s a haunting, nervous energy running through it. It’s our lens into a midwest mind trip where you’re replaying memories over and over…”
‘L Train’ is out now and available to stream. Almost There arrives March 27, 2026, via I Surrender Records.
