Thundercat returns with funky new track ‘I Did This To Myself’ featuring Lil Yachty
Helsinki-born, Los Angeles-based bassist and singer Thundercat releases his new single ‘I Did This To Myself’ featuring Lil Yachty. The track arrives ahead of his fifth studio album, Distracted, due April 3 via Brainfeeder Records.
‘I Did This To Myself’ sees Thundercat blend his signature groovy basslines with a conversational lyrical hook. Produced alongside longtime collaborator Flying Lotus, the track satirizes digitally-influenced modern relationships, depicting a scenario where social media distractions and self-absorption create ironic complications. Its playful yet incisive commentary sits within a white-hot funk and R&B framework, underscoring Thundercat’s ability to fuse virtuoso musicianship with contemporary cultural observation.
Thundercat declares:
“Sometimes you need to be distracted to focus in a different way.”
‘I Did This To Myself’ is available now to stream and download across all major platforms. Distracted arrives April 3 via Brainfeeder Records.
We’ve covered Thiundercat previously: ‘Upside Down,’ and ‘I Wish I Didn’t Waste Your Time,’ and ‘Children of the Baked Potato.’
