Talk To Her explores alienation and survival on Pleasure Loss Desire

Italian post-punk band Talk To Her return with their new album Pleasure Loss Desire, out October 30, 2025, via Shyrec/Icy Cold Records. Co-produced by Maurizio Baggio (The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher), the record dives into themes of detachment, alienation, and emotional fragility.

Pleasure Loss Desire unfolds like a descent into psychological shadow. The band’s signature wave influence remains, but this time the palette is sharper and more abrasive—melding post-punk urgency with textures of post- and alternative rock from the late ’90s and early 2000s. The vocals are icy and distant, while guitars and synths intertwine in a constant push-pull between control and collapse. The production—handled by Baggio at La Distilleria in Bassano del Grappa, Italy—amplifies that tension, giving each track a sense of both intimacy and isolation.
Among the highlights, ‘Dyve’ channels dependence and surrender through distorted guitars and dark synths, mirroring the emotional freefall that defines the record. The opener ‘Waterfall’ sets the tone with its swirling mix of clarity and chaos, while ‘PLD’ and ‘No Sound Remains’ balance aggression and melancholy, capturing the band’s evolving post-punk edge. Each song inhabits its own atmosphere yet contributes to a cohesive emotional arc—one that moves from numb introspection to quiet reckoning.
The marketing materials describe the album as “a deep dive into the abyss of detachment, where pleasure and loss blur into one another in an emotional vortex.” They continue, “In a world that no longer mirrors our ideal selves, detachment becomes not just a reaction, but a survival mechanism, a shield against pain. The abyss turns into a refuge that numbs pain, yet over time it holds us back, threatening to become a suffocating trap.” This philosophical weight grounds the music, transforming Pleasure Loss Desire from a stylistic exercise into an emotional confrontation.
Formed in Italy, Talk To Her is known for its blend of post-punk intensity and electronic depth. Their 2020 debut Love Will Come Again introduced a band fascinated by passion and vulnerability, while Pleasure Loss Desire turns its focus toward alienation and endurance. The record was produced by Talk To Her and Maurizio Baggio, mixed by Edoardo Pellizzari at Overdrive Studio in Castello di Godego, and mastered by Collin Jordan at The Boiler Room in Chicago. Visual contributions come from Sara Murrone (artwork) and photographers Damiano Affinito and Daniele Bagolin.
Pleasure Loss Desire is available now on white 140g vinyl, limited to 500 copies, featuring a premium sleeve and lyric insert. The album can be streamed on all major platforms and purchased via Shyrec/Icy Cold Records.
