Mirah returns with first new single in seven years ‘Catch My Breath’

Acclaimed indie artist Mirah has returned with her first new song in seven years, ‘Catch My Breath,’ out today via Double Double Whammy and her own imprint Absolute Magnitude. The track marks her first release since 2018’s ‘Understanding’ and finds the beloved songwriter exploring fresh sonic territory through an ’80s-inspired power pop sound.
On ‘Catch My Breath,’ Mirah channels the spirit of The Cars, bringing together a studio band that includes Jenn Wasner of Flock of Dimes, Meg Duffy (aka Hand Habits), and Andrew Maguire. The result is an upbeat, shimmering production that contrasts the song’s lyrical themes of longing and relationship uncertainty.
Mirah says of the track:
“When this song first came out it had a sonically pensive aura. I could tell it was a keeper, but I wanted to try some different presentations, play with it a little. Could the wound spring of questioning and longing and relationship anxiety sound bombastic, or fun, or like an 80’s pop song? That’s what we went for in the studio, and with Jenn, Meg, and Andrew Maguire in there with me it really just took off. I love how the song expressed its malleability to me and then took so well to the treatment.”
‘Catch My Breath’ is available now on all streaming platforms via Double Double Whammy and Absolute Magnitude.
