Rapt begins Not All Is Dark/All Is Never Lost series with delicate single ‘Ocean Lay Straight’

London-based singer-songwriter Jacob Ware, known as Rapt, launches his new song series Not All Is Dark/All Is Never Lost with the release of ‘Ocean Lay Straight’ on August 15, 2025.
The series marks a significant shift for the artist, moving away from traditional albums and embracing an open-ended approach where each song stands on its own. In this new project, songs will be added as they are written or rediscovered, without edits, to preserve the authenticity of their creation. The debut track, ‘Ocean Lay Straight,’ sets the tone with its quiet, romantic mood reminiscent of José González. Built on arpeggiated classical guitar, cello, and voice, the song reflects on the fragility of love, using the stillness of the ocean horizon as a metaphor for truth.
“Albums are how I hide. This ‘series’ is how I get out of my own way. I have to forget albums and honor songs for their own sake. I’m sitting on a ton of material. There’s only one rule: when a new song is done — or an old ghostly demo is unearthed and finished — it’s released and added. No edits. Just the truth of when it was written.”
‘Ocean Lay Straight’ is out August 15 via START-TRACK, beginning the bold, evolving creative chapter of Not All Is Dark/All Is Never Lost.
