Olivia Barton shares ‘Matter To You’ and announces new album For Myself and For You

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Olivia Barton has announced her upcoming album For Myself and For You, set to arrive October 10, 2025. The news comes alongside the release of the album’s lead single, ‘Matter To You,’ a quietly powerful ballad co-written with acclaimed artist Madi Diaz.
‘Matter To You’ opens a new chapter for Barton, delivering her lyrical honesty with striking emotional clarity. Co-produced and engineered by Pinegrove’s Sam Skinner, the track captures the moment Barton confronted the pain behind destructive patterns formed before getting sober. Written during her first tour in 2021 and completed two years later with Diaz’s collaboration, the song unpacks a need to feel seen and valued—expressed in simple, devastating lines like “All I want is you to notice when I leave the room.”
“I wrote the chorus of ‘Matter to You’ in the back of a van on my first tour ever in 2021, before I got sober. It was the moment I looked at my destructive, attention-seeking behavior and found the pain underneath. Two years later, I took the chorus to Madi Diaz. Her compassion allowed me to tell the truth in a way I couldn’t on my own. ‘Matter to You’ lifted me to a new level of maturity, compassion, and commitment to my partner and to myself.”
In addition to the album announcement, Barton is confirmed to perform at AMERICANAFEST this fall, with more tour dates expected to be announced soon.
