ThxSoMch leans into chaos on gripping fan favorite ‘Unhinged’
Toronto-based punk artist ThxSoMch has officially released ‘Unhinged,’ a brooding, high-voltage track pulled from his highly anticipated debut album The Sound of You Laughing, due out August 29 via Atlantic Records.
Rooted in dark energy and suspense, ‘Unhinged’ originated from a 2023 voice note that lingered in ThxSoMch’s mind for over a year before finally taking shape in October 2024. After nearly being forgotten, the track found new life as the artist revisited older song ideas while wrapping up his debut record.
“When I decided to record some older song ideas, I came back to it. Recorded it, didn’t think much of it, and posted it. To my surprise, it became a fan favourite.”
Despite its late arrival, the track was ultimately added to The Sound of You Laughing—and is now available to stream everywhere.
“It isn’t a cure—it’s a distraction. A pause. A breath between breakdowns. Just long enough to feel okay before the weight comes back. You can’t laugh forever. You laugh until you choke. And then it’s not so funny anymore.”
With ‘Unhinged’ now out and The Sound of You Laughing arriving August 29, ThxSoMch continues to add to his ever-evolving catalog.
