Flyte shares an unvarnished anthem for love on ‘I’m So Down’

Beloved UK outfit Flyte continues to set the stage for their upcoming album Between You and Me with the release of their latest single, ‘I’m So Down.’
Produced by Ethan Johns (Paul McCartney, Laura Marling), ‘I’m So Down’ captures Flyte’s blend of melodic brightness and emotional depth. The track opens with a candid count-in and unfolds in a single take—no overdubs, no polish—just the band’s raw, live performance in its purest form. It’s an ode to the people-pleaser, those who always say “yes” at their own expense.
Frontman Will Taylor says:
“The song was written as an ode to the codependent people-pleaser. ‘I’m so down’ translates as ‘I’m up for it’. We wanted the song to be melodic and upbeat on the surface, but the delivery and subtext of the lyrics to imply a solemnity that comes as a result of wanting to say yes to everything, the weight that can be carried by always serving other people’s needs.”
‘I’m So Down’ joins previously released tracks ‘Hurt People,’ ‘Emily and Me,’ and ‘I’m Not There’ on Between You and Me, which is set to arrive August 29 via Nettwerk. The album promises a stripped-back, emotionally rich experience from a band that’s embraced rawness and vulnerability at every turn.
