Bible Club confronts the shadows of modern life on bold sophomore EP Umbra
Bristol-based post-punk quartet Bible Club has released its second EP, Umbra, out now via Velvet Echoes.

Umbra marks a significant step forward for the band, showcasing a more refined and conceptually rich sound. Fusing elements of post-rock, shoegaze, and politically charged spoken word, Umbra presents an incisive critique of late-stage capitalism and modern societal decay. Produced by Dom Mitchison, the five-track collection builds on the experimental tendencies of their debut EP AD, but with sharper focus and heightened ambition. Guitars weave between stark dissonance and swelling unity, mirroring the contradictions of the world the band portrays: disarray, alienation, and an ever-deepening loss of substance.
At the heart of the project is the lead single and title track, ‘Umbra,’ which Bible Club describes as “a condemnation of societal monotony.” Reflecting on the track, the band explains, “‘Umbra’ captures the stark awareness of a world stuck in disarray.”
