Glixen crafts heavy haze on Quiet Pleasures

Phoenix-based quartet Glixen emerges with their sophomore EP, Quiet Pleasures, out now via AWAL and Wichita Recordings.
Produced by: Sonny DiPerri
Following their 2023 breakout EP She Only Said, Glixen refines their sound on Quiet Pleasures, blending weightless melancholy with immersive noise. Founded by vocalist/guitarist Aislinn Ritchie in 2020, alongside guitarist Esteban Santana, drummer Keire Johnson, and bassist Sonia Garcia, Glixen draws from an eclectic pool—My Bloody Valentine, Björk, Godflesh, and Hum—crafting a modern shoegaze sound that’s both cavernous and intimate. While the EP occasionally falls into monotony, its strongest moments, like the experimental ‘avoid’ and the catchy ‘sick silent,’ hint at a band on the cusp of a distinct identity.
Ritchie says of ‘all tied up’:
“There’s a subtle tension that builds throughout with a push and pull between the guitars and vocals.”
With Quiet Pleasures, Glixen proves they’re not just riding the shoegaze wave—they’re pushing it forward.
