English Teacher – This Could Be Texas
This Could Be Texas marks the debut album of the English rock band English Teacher, released on April 12th. A fusion of post-punk, math rock, and electronic elements with autotune, the album presents a diverse sonic landscape that reflects the band’s eclectic influences. The album’s 13 tracks showcase the band’s evolution since their EP Polyawkward, with compositions ranging from nostalgic reflections on university life to introspective musings on societal issues and mental health. Lead singer, Lily Fontaine articulates the album’s sonic and thematic breadth, describing it as an exploration of “the in-betweens,” where the listener is transported to a space that feels both familiar and alien.
