3 New Albums Out This Week You Should Listen to Now: total tommy, Alffa, and VIAL
There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.
This week we’re highlighting new music from total tommy, Alffa, and VIAL.
total tommy – Bruises
Jess Holt’s debut album as total tommy, bruises, delivers noisy dream pop infused with heady hooks and emotional immediacy. Exploring love, lust, infatuation, and friendship, Holt’s incisive lyrics and shoegazing layers will resonate with fans of Snail Mail and Alvvays. Tracks like ‘REAL’ and ‘SODA’ capture the raw rush of feelings, while debut single ‘microdose’ celebrates and critiques the thrill of new relationships. Produced by Mark Zito (Fractures) and mixed by Dan Carey (Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C.), the album reflects Holt’s queer coming-of-age journey, balancing heated declarations like ‘Plus One’ with biting humor on tracks like ‘Losing Out’ and ‘SPIDER.’ The result is a vivid and dynamic record, rich with sonic and emotional surprises.
Standout Songs: ‘ADELINE,’ ‘Losing Out,’ ‘REAL,’ ‘microdose,’ and ‘Plus One.’

Alffa – O’r Lludw/From Ashes
North Wales duo Alffa release their sophomore album, O’r Lludw / From Ashes, a raw and powerful testament to overcoming obstacles. Born from personal challenges and the global pandemic, the album reflects their journey from darkness to light, blending punk rock fury and hard rock grit with producer Gethin Pearson. “We really wanted the audience to know that there’s hope,” the band shares. “The album starts in the dark days and goes on to the hope that we feel today, so if the listener can take anything positive away – that’s the goal.”
Standout Songs: ‘Find Me,’ ‘Tough Love,’ ‘Dance Again,’ ‘Closer To Me,’ and ‘Breathe Free.’

Indie-punk trio Vial have released Grow The F**k Up, a re-recorded and slightly reimagined version of their 2019 debut EP, Grow Up. Out now via Get Better Records, the release includes a rewritten track, ‘DIY or Die,’ and marks the first time the songs will be available on vinyl. Reflecting on the project, the band shares: “We rerecorded our debut EP Grow Up to look back on our progress as musicians and revisit some very nostalgic songs after five years of VIAL. It’s like a little love letter to our younger selves.”
Standout Songs: ‘Dog Days,’ ‘Cut Me Off,’ and ‘DIY or Die.’
