There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.

This week we’re highlighting new music from Thank, Ab-Soul, and Primal Scream.

Thank – I Have A Physical Body That Can Be Harmed

Leeds band Thank’s sophomore album, I Have A Physical Body That Can Be Harmed, bursts with raw intensity, satire, and eclectic genre blending. Released via Big Scary Monsters, the album features vocalist Freddy Vinehill-Cliffe switching between vocal styles, adding to the chaotic, raucous energy. Tracks like ‘Control’ and ‘Woke Frasier’ showcase their abrasive noise rock sound with sharp, humorous commentary, while ‘The Spores’ and ‘Dead Dog In A Ditch’ reflect on personal and societal tensions with claustrophobic, pounding rhythms. The album culminates in the ferocious ‘Writing Out A List Of All The Names Of God,’ embodying Thank’s unfiltered, brash style—an immersive listen meant to be played loud and embraced for its unrefined authenticity.

Standout Songs: ‘Control,’ ‘Woke Frasier,’ ‘Do It Badly,’ ‘Dead Dog In A Ditch,’ and ‘Writing Out A List Of All The Names Of God.’

Ab-Soul – Soul Burger

Soul Burger, Ab-Soul’s sixth album, is a tribute to his late friend and collaborator DoeBurger, blending intense emotion with sharp lyrical precision. Released on November 8, 2024, by Top Dawg Entertainment, it features collaborations with artists like Vince Staples, JID, Doechii, Lupe Fiasco, and Ty Dolla $ign, with production by 9th Wonder, Beat Butcha, and Schoolboy Q. Following Herbert (2022), this album marks a more focused and motivated Ab-Soul, showcasing his often-underrated depth as a lyricist and performer. With singles like ‘Squeeze 1st 2’ and ‘Crazier,’ Soul Burger brings Ab-Soul’s complex narratives to life in an emotionally rich homage.

Standout Songs: ‘All That,’ ‘California Dream,’ ‘B.U.C.K.O. Jr,’ ‘Dnd,’ ‘Squeeze 1st 2,’ and ‘Crazier.’

Primal Scream – Come Ahead

Come Ahead, Primal Scream’s first album in eight years, revives the Glasgow band’s rebellious spirit, blending funk, gospel, and rock influences. Produced by David Holmes, this twelfth album leans into bold rhythms, soulful backing vocals, and horns, creating a hedonistic sound that recalls the band’s eclectic past and Gillespie’s Glaswegian roots. Tracks like ‘Love Ain’t Enough’ and ‘The Centre Cannot Hold’ mix swagger and introspection, with politically charged lyrics reflecting on social injustices. As Primal Scream’s homage to their musical history, Come Ahead balances fierce funk grooves and introspective ballads, embodying the defiant spirit of Gillespie and his bandmates.

Standout Songs: ‘Ready To Go Home,’ ‘Circus of Life,’ ‘False Flags,’ ‘Love Insurrection – Edit,’ and ‘Deep Dark Waters – Edit.’
