3 New Albums Out This Week You Should Listen to Now: Aesop Rock, Florence + the Machine, and Anna von Hausswolff

Aesop Rock

There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.

This week we’re highlighting new music from Aesop Rock, Florence + the Machine, and Anna von Hausswolff.

Aesop Rock – I Heard It’s A Mess There Too

Aesop Rock’s I Heard It’s A Mess There Too turns a casual lyric into a meditation on connection amid chaos. Known for his extensive wordplay, Aesop explores global anxiety through everyday moments, finding optimism in small acts like walking the dog or watering plants. Musically, he embraces cleaner, more minimal production: “I didn’t want the beat and the vocals competing for attention—I just wanted enough to get a wave rolling.” The result is a grounded and reflective record about staying sane and present when everything feels uncertain.

Standout Songs: ‘The Cut,’ ‘Full House Pinball,’ ‘Opossum,’ ‘Potato Leek Soup,’ and ‘Poly Cotton Blend.’

Florence + the Machine – Everybody Scream

Florence + the Machine’s Everybody Scream emerged from what Florence Welch describes as “a furious burst” — a record born of urgency and survival. Written in the aftermath of a dangerous onstage ectopic miscarriage during the Dance Fever tour, the album channels grief, pain, and mysticism into something cathartic. Drawing on themes of witchcraft and folklore, Welch weaves visceral emotion through collaborations with Mitski, Aaron Dessner, and IDLES’ Mark Bowen. From the raw title track’s meditation on fame and endurance to the spellbinding energy of ‘Witch Dance’ and the healing reflection of ‘Perfume and Milk,’ Everybody Scream captures transformation through ritual and resilience, culminating in ‘And Love,’ a fragile yet hopeful promise that ”peace is coming.”

Standout Songs: ‘Everybody Scream,’ ‘One of the Greats,’ ‘Sympathy Magic,’ ‘Music By Men,’ ‘And Love.’
